Wildfire Breaking Free
A few years ago, a friend of mine was on stage preaching. She started talking about the Wildfire Process and immediately grabbed my attention and my heart!
At the time, Wildfire was the name of the Team I was building. I chose that name because my Team started to grow very quickly and when I asked Tony what I should name it, he said Wildfire. At first I brushed it off because I thought it wasn’t catchy enough, until he added the fact that it was also the nickname his father gave him as a young man when he began fighting in mixed martial arts! He was small but swept in and caught people by surprise! Of course, after picturing my handsome husband as a little boy with the name Wildfire written on the back of his helmet, it stuck!
What I didn’t realize at the time is how powerful of a name Wildfire would become in our lives!
What is the Wildfire Process
In the sermon I mentioned above, my friend explained that the Wildfire Process removes dead and decaying roots that will act as future fuel, to future fires that would be more deadly, intense and disastrous. It eliminates dense, hard to penetrate foliage and enables a NEW GENERATION of seedlings (vision) to grow.
The intense fire and heat strips nutrients and minerals out of the burning plants, which creates more fertile ground for new species of plants to grow. In fact, some plants only exist because of the Wildfire!
Up until that point, I didn’t fully understand the meaning of a Wildfire and how much of an impact it would have in my life.
Roots and Vision
We don’t come to spiritual maturity overnight and many times we never truly grab a hold of the abundant life that God died for us to live. John 10:10 (NAS) says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.’’
I am personally tired of watching the enemy steal, kill and destroy our life, our joy and our freedom! The freedom that is rightfully ours!
I don’t know about you but I want to break free! I want to break out of the box the world, my mind, my situations and circumstances have tried to put me in.
I want to live in the great unknown, beyond what my mind can think or even dream of.
I want to break free and live in full faith that God created me on purpose, for a purpose that is much larger than my understanding.
And I want that for you too!
Let’s talk VISION
There is a purpose and vision that is specific to you and can only be produced when the Wildfire sweeps through your life.
The problem is … most of us don’t want to surrender to it. We don’t want to surrender because the fire burns, its hot and it gets rid of things that we have held on to for way to long!
What about these ROOTS that we hold on to so tightly? Roots that are actually choking out that abundant life Jesus died for us to have.
Some of my roots grew through pain caused by others and even myself. Roots watered by bad habits and hurtful thinking. These roots try to rob me of a healthy marriage. These roots tell me that I’m not good enough!
I don’t know about you but 2018 brought some pretty intense heat for me! There were times I wasn’t sure I would make it!
What kept me going?
Knowing, that in the midst of the intense heat and pain, God was there doing a work in me!
He is burning out roots of destruction and making way for new growth through healing!
He isn’t done with me and that’s why I am changing the name of my blog and the vision moving forward.
The Spark That Keeps Us Going
I use to think that my hard work and focus was the spark that kept me going. Now I know, the spark that keeps me going is Jesus!
The same friend that spoke this powerful message years ago, also shared these words with me.
You might ignite a spark inside of someone but you can’t control how it burns.
At the time I related it to the women I was working with. I may have ignited a passion and spark that got them going but I could never control how it burned (grew).
Today that word has new meaning in my life.
I can’t control how my life goes, it’s truly in Gods hands. He controls how it burns!
At the end of last year I finally felt like I was breaking free! Like I was finding my spark again! A spark that I felt I had lost. I already knew I wanted to change the name of my blog and add the tag line, “the spark that keeps us going’’ and then life happened. I hadn’t made the change or shared this blog post yet and in a moment of frustration, I complained to God that I no longer had a spark! Do you ever complain to God?
He gently reminded me that HE IS the spark that keeps me going, and that cannot manipulate it or control how it spreads.
There was a time that I found my spark in WHO I WAS and WHAT I DID.
I am learning to find my spark in WHO GOD IS and WHO HE SAYS I AM!
My title doesn’t define me, his love does.
Breaking Free Is A Process
I’m sharing all of this because I know I am not the only one who desires to have a personal, more intimate relationship with God. I know I am not the only one who deeply desires to do Gods will. I know I am not the only one with deep roots that need to be burned out in order for beautiful new growth to come.
I don’t want to live and die without excepting and going through Gods Wildfire Process. I don’t want to die without Breaking Free!
The reality is, there is frustration in this Wildfire Breaking Free Process and I am determined to go through it with you!
So welcome to our new space!

Scriptures I am standing on right now!
Ephesians 6: 10- 20 The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
1 Peter 5: 7 - 11
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
