What's holding you back?

I’m in a rut. I’ve lost my motivation. Things I once loved are now hard for me to do.

Have you ever felt this way?

It’s no secret. The past few years have been a struggle for me. There were times I felt like I was in a rut. Like everything I had worked so hard for was for not.

I’m a “fitness professional” and I’m the most UN-fit I’ve ever been.

I lost my passion, my inspiration and motivation…me…the motivator!

Don’t worry, this is not a whiny post, in fact, I want to share some good news!

I am FINALLY out of a really yucky season and boy have I learned a lot.

Lets chat about some of these lessons

I recently started praying that God would send me a really good friend. After this move and stepping back from my online fitness business, I found myself feeling alone.

Iron sharpens Iron and I knew I needed a friend close by. A like minded friend who loved Jesus and fitness!

After a few months of praying, my family and I FINALLY decided and committed to an amazing local church where we dove right in. During this time I met one of the female Pastors and instantly felt like she would be an amazing person to get to know.

I knew God kept laying it on my heart to talk to her and after weeks of putting it off, I went for it.

I’ll never forget the way I felt after our conversation.

It was like a ton of bricks had been lifted off my shoulders.

I knew the connection I prayed for, had just been made!

The night before the conversation, I was anxious and even thought of ways to possibly cancel.

If I would have cancelled, I would have missed out!

I wasn’t completely clear on why I was suppose to reach out but God knew!

WHAT I KNOW NOW …

  1. Your mind will easily create fear and false truths if you allow it to.

  2. If God is laying something on your heart, like he did when he told me to talk to this now friend, DO IT!

  3. God hears your prayers and wants to answer them BUT don’t be surprised if your prayers go unanswered because you chickened out and didn’t do the part he asked you to do. I wonder, how many of our prayers are still unanswered because of our lack of obedience and action?

  4. God knows more than you and I … put together! Let that sink in. His plans are to prosper, not to harm. He doesn’t want us to stay stuck.

I EAT MY WORDS

So here it goes friend.

The new thing I’ve been talking about in my Instagram Stories for the last two days!
The thing I said I would NEVER DO!

Turns out, my new friend is a CROSS FIT trainer! YEP… you read it … Cross Fit!

With a back ground in Fitness and a few ‘“bad form” videos under my belt, I haven’t always had the nicest things to say about Cross Fit. I’m learning that also stemmed from a slight fear of the unknown.

Mind you, today was only my second day but I am glad to say I have been pleasantly surprised!

Anybody else smiling at how God works?

I am sharing this for a few reasons.

  1. I want to encourage you to continually step outside of your comfort zone. Especially if you ever feel like you are stuck in a rut! Sometimes trying something new is all it takes to reignite that spark deep inside of you.

  2. For my local Fayetteville NC. friends and family, you can get in on this, FOR FREE!

I will add the link to their site below. You can find them on facebook as well but here’s what I know.

You can workout for FREE! That in and of itself is amazing!

The environment is incredible because of the people and the mission!

It wasn’t as intimidating as I thought!

We are all at different fitness levels but it doesn’t matter! We cheer each other on.

They are friendly and welcoming and make you feel right at home.

They say a quick prayer and play christian music. Don’t worry, its not slow worship music either (insert laugh here), its up beat and motivating. In fact, if you didn’t know it was Christian music, you wouldn’t know the difference, it pumps you up!

I could seriously go on and on about this place but please ask questions and check out there site if you are local and want to know more.

My main point is …

I am so grateful for the nudge God gave me. Even more grateful I FINALLY listened and followed through on that nudge!

I am grateful for this new fitness community I get to be a part of … even if I am working out at 5 am! LOL Don’t worry, that’s not the only time available!

I am grateful for break through!

I am grateful for all the lessons I am learning.

I am grateful for YOU allowing me to share as I learn.

Now…

I want to hear these kind of stories from you!

I won’t pretend to know what you might be facing. Maybe you’re in a good spot right now and don’t need this encouragement … save it for later.

Maybe, you are in a very tough season and you feel like you need your own Refuge and Strength.

Be encouraged.

God is never absent from our lives, even if we feel like he is being quiet for a while.

It’s ok to feel weak, in our weakness, he is strong! 2 Corinthians 12:10

Sometimes, we learn the most out of those tough seasons, embrace it, this too shall pass.

Step out if you feel God nudging, he knows what you need.

And friend, know that you are not alone and you shouldn’t stay alone.

Isolation is one of the enemies best tactics! I know, I tend to put my head down and try to do things on my own. I’m learning that’s not always best.

Now if you read this far, you da bomb! :)

I would love to hear from you!

I love reading your emails and comments. Getting to know you and connect has helped me greatly.

I don’t take it for granted, every share, every like and comment is highly appreciated as I work to get more consistent in sharing here on the blog.

So tell me, what’s holding you back? Or what have you tried new lately?

Let’s keep sharing as we learn in this journey called life.

XOXO,

Your Friend
