What do you do on those days when you JUST DON'T WANT TO workout?

 I am often asked the question, "How are you so motivated to workout and eat healthy everyday?" The truth is, I don't always feel motivated! I am a busy mother of three who sometimes gets tired of waking up at 4:30am M-F and supplementing quinoa  and spaghetti squash in some of my favorite meals (which by the way can taste really awesome if done the right way). I am tempted with the thoughts of sleeping in and skipping my workouts... allowing the busyness of everyday life to side track me from my goals.  So now the question becomes, how do I overcome the thoughts and temptations that each of us are faced with on a daily bases? Let me share some of my secrets:)

Applicable steps that I apply immediately...

1. I get OUT of bed anyways, lace up my shoes and drink a cup of coffee. This is one of the most important steps for me...simply making the decision to do it anyways! That can happen in the morning or in the middle of the day so if its the middle of the day then throw on those workout clothes and lace up...if your like me you're already in them anyways so get your butt moving! Don't just look like you worked out actually workout! :)

2. I turn on my favorite workout music (music moves me) and I make myself workout for 10 minutes before I decide if I will workout that day or not. As you kick off your workout, your brain will start to release a number of different feel-good neurotransmitters, including endorphins, which are the most commonly cited explanation for the so-called "runner's high" and serotonin, which is well known for its role in mood and depression. 3. I STOP every negative thought that comes into my head and I replace it with a positive one! This is extremely important in every area of life...UGH this is so hard! Why is she so much thinner than I am? I wish I looked like that! I am fat! I am ugly! I am so weak! I can't do that! I will never be skinny! I look so stupid doing this! Its not working why try?...any of these sound familiar? Why do we talk to ourselves like that and expect anything good to come from it? We would never say these things to our dearest friend but we say them to ourselves, it must stop and its up to you. Every time you have a negative thought or you say something negative out loud, STOP  and say the opposite! Speak truth! Ephesians 4:22-24(NIV) You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the  hearer.

You were made by God and created for a purpose! He loves YOU and you are beautiful! Taking care of yourself mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally will make you more  effective in your kingdom work and you owe that to yourself! You ARE WORTH it! Your kingdom work maybe at home with those beautiful babies or out in your work place but by taking care of YOU, in these areas, you will be more focused, have more energy and your heart will be pure for the work you need to do. But YES it starts with your workouts and EVERY single step and decision you make every day! No one said it would be easy but its so worth it...fight for it! You will not only feel better when you do but its the small, seemingly insignificant choices that  you make everyday that make the difference....it doesn't happen over night!
