Elf on the Shelf Jesus Style!

Ok, Ok I know we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet BUT trust me, keep reading!

For as long as I can remember, Christmas has been my favorite holiday! The music, beautiful lights, decorating our tree and of course we can’t forget the red cups at Starbucks!

A few years ago, I learned about the Elf on the Shelf and me in all of my Christmas glory, picked my girls up from school and headed straight to Barnes and Noble to pick out our very own Christmas Elf!

The first two years our Elves were naughty and sometimes nice, yet always up to something!

Their purpose was simply to bring a smile to the faces of our three amazing daughters. OK, I must confess, I REALLY loved the leverage they gave me with my children’s behavior…since “The Elves” would be updating Santa on their behavior each day I only had to mention it once and they would straighten up right away! I mean why not use the Elf all year round?! Talk about a Christmas wish!

I digress...although there was NOTHING at all wrong with wanting to see my girls enjoy the harmless fun of hunting for their little Elves each morning, I realized that I was missing out on a beautiful opportunity to teach my Children the TRUE meaning of Christmas in a way that they would be totally open and responsive to.

Honestly, I began feeling convicted that I hadn’t been showing my girls what CHRISTmas was really all about! I was simply finding a way to have a little more FUN while counting down the days for them to receive more worldly gifts, while taking focus off of the TRUE meaning of Christmas…CHRIST the greatest gift of all!

So, Last year I decided that our Elf on the Shelf would be more than just another "Holiday" tradition”, so I started adding daily scripture with a lesson or meaningful activity we could do as a family.

My desire was to take the focus off of ourselves and what we could receive, and put it on what we could do to show Christ’s love to others. I didn’t want my girls to connect the Elf on the Shelf with having to be “GOOD” in order to get what they want because even in my own Christian walk I use to feel like I could never be “GOOD” enough. I now know that Christ already gave that gift and it isn’t to be earned but simply accepted.

This year I wanted to share our Elf on the Shelf Jesus Style with YOU! So, I put together this special packet so you can do Elf on the Shelf Jesus style without having to come up with it all on your own.

This packet includes:

  • Examples of our Elf on the Shelf

  • Daily Bible Verse Printouts

  • Optional Devotion Talking Points

  • North Pole Breakfast Printable

  • Candy Cane Poem Printable

From experience I can say that doing Elf on the Shelf Jesus Style was not only great for my little ones but it was also amazing for my husband and I as well. So, I urge you to set aside a few minutes each day at a time that fit best for your family. We love to read the Elf verse of the day in the morning when we find our Elf and the devotion at night (at least until school gets out but you know your little ones best so choose a less stress time to do the devotion).

So if you are interested in making your Elf go from Naughty to Nice or you simply want to add more of Christ back into your family Christmas then click on the picture below!
